User information disclosure via principal identifier lookup
Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Broken object authorization in CERN Indico 2.2 through 3.3.5 allows remote attackers to read user details via /api/principals. The endpoint accepts requested User identifiers and returns associated basic profile details without restricting lookup to privileged roles. CERN disputes the vulnerability because typical instances intentionally let users find other accounts by name or email, so the reported consequence is limited to those exposed profile fields.
