Privilege escalation via client-controlled user fields
Published Feb 11, 2026 · Updated Feb 11, 2026
Incorrect access control in CIPPlanner CIPAce before 9.17 allows remote authenticated users to alter other accounts and elevate privileges. Server-side validation accepts a client-controlled hidden user ID and modified read-only role data instead of enforcing the authenticated account and permitted role values. Low-privileged access is required; successful tampering permits account-information changes or assignment of greater application privileges.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
