CVE-2024-50590Public exploit

SYSTEM privilege escalation via writable service binaries

Published Nov 8, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Privilege escalation in HASOMED GmbH Elefant before 24.04.00 allows local users to execute code as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The default C:\Elefant1 directory permits all users to replace Firebird_2\bin\fbserver.exe or fbguard.exe, although their Windows services run as SYSTEM. A low-privileged user needs local access and a system reboot; the substituted executable then starts with full SYSTEM privileges.
