Management-device impersonation via missing certificate name verification
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Improper FGFM endpoint validation in Fortinet FortiOS, FortiAnalyzer, FortiVoice, and FortiWeb allows attackers to impersonate management devices. The FGFM client accepts a management connection without verifying the certificate name against the intended FortiCloud or, under certain conditions, FortiManager endpoint. Exploitation requires no product credentials, but man-in-the-middle attackers must intercept the authentication request between a managed device and its management device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.0.11
- Affected versionversion=7.2.0 <=7.2.11
- Affected versionversion=7.4.0 <=7.4.2
