CVE-2024-50460Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unsanitized image alt tags

Published Oct 28, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026

Stored XSS in Firelight Lightbox 2.3.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through image alt tags. The plugin insufficiently sanitizes stored alt-tag content before FancyBox renders it into a page, allowing attacker-controlled markup to reach the browser. Exploitation requires an Author-level account and another user to view the affected content, where the script runs in that viewer's browser context.
