Unauthenticated code execution via rsync credential injection
Published Dec 6, 2024 · Updated Dec 6, 2024
OS command injection in QNAP HBS 3 Hybrid Backup Sync before 25.1.1.673 allows remote attackers to execute code as admin. The rsync daemon fails to validate a supplied username and password before using the credential string in a system call. Authentication is not required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled commands with administrative privileges on the NAS.
