CVE-2024-50386Network attack vector

KVM host filesystem access via unvalidated templates

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

Improper validation in Apache CloudStack 4.0.0 through 4.18.2.4 and 4.19.0.0 through 4.19.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to access host files. The direct-download template path accepts KVM disk images containing backing-file references or other non-flat features without validating and rejecting those features. Exploitation requires permission to register templates and a KVM-based environment; deploying a crafted image enables host-file reads or changes, data loss, and service interruption.
