CVE-2024-50348Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Browser script execution via unencoded camera metadata

Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Oct 30, 2024

Stored cross-site scripting in InstantCMS before 2.16.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via photo metadata. The photo upload path accepts an image's EXIF Camera Model Name, and the camera page inserts the derived page title into an h1 element without HTML encoding. A logged-in user must upload the crafted image and another user must open its camera page, exposing that visitor's browser session to script actions.
