CVE-2024-50340Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Environment manipulation via query-injected runtime arguments

Published Nov 6, 2024 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Input validation in Symfony Runtime allows remote attackers to change the kernel environment or debug mode through a crafted query string. SymfonyRuntime passes web-populated $_SERVER['argv'] to ArgvInput, which treats --env and --no-debug query tokens as command-line options and writes APP_ENV or APP_DEBUG. The flaw requires register_argc_argv to be on and affects Runtime versions before 5.4.46, 6.0.0 through 6.4.13, and 7.0.0 through 7.1.6.
