CVE-2024-50290

Incorrect SNR reporting via unchecked register error

Published Nov 19, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Integer underflow in the Linux kernel cx24116 DVB frontend allows local users to corrupt signal-to-noise ratio reporting. cx24116_read_snr_pct stores a negative CX24116_REG_QUALITY0 read result in an unsigned byte instead of returning the error, producing a wrapped SNR value. Reachability requires the cx24116 driver and a failed tuner register read; published evidence establishes incorrect telemetry but not code execution or data access.
