Stored XSS via unprotected settings update
Published Nov 21, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2024
Stored XSS in CreativeMinds CM Table of Contents before 1.2.4 allows remote attackers to inject script through an administrator's browser. The cmtoc_settings update handler accepts cmtoc_table_of_contentsHeaderDescription without a CSRF check and stores it without sanitization or output escaping. An administrator must open attacker-controlled HTML while logged in; the saved payload then executes in WordPress page contexts that render the setting.
