CVE-2024-50260

Kernel crash via sockmap link update race

Published Nov 9, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in Linux 6.10 through 6.11.6 and 6.12-rc1 through 6.12-rc5 allows local users to crash the kernel via a sockmap race. The detach path clears sockmap_link->map, while a concurrent update passes that NULL map to sock_map_prog_link_lookup(). Triggering the race requires low-privileged local access and precisely timed concurrent link operations; the reported consequence is limited to service interruption.
