CVE-2024-50236

Service interruption via unreleased management-transmit contexts

Published Nov 9, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Memory leakage in the Linux kernel's ath10k driver allows local users to interrupt service through management-frame transmission. The management-transmit completion and cleanup paths fail to free allocated MSDU context memory, allowing repeated transmissions to consume kernel memory. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an ath10k device using management-over-WMI transmission; exhaustion can degrade or interrupt host availability.
