Kernel memory read and corruption via dangling pointer

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel network socket layer allows local users to read or corrupt kernel memory through failed socket creation. __sock_create retains sock->sk after a failing pf->create callback frees the socket object, so later release processing dereferences stale kernel memory. An unprivileged local user can trigger the path with a failing socket call, exposing kernel heap data, corrupting memory, or panicking the host.
