File-existence disclosure via unchecked import filename
Published Jun 25, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Path traversal in Progress Software Corporation WhatsUp Gold before 2023.1.3 allows remote authenticated users to query file existence. AppProfileImportController.getPath combines an attacker-controlled fileName with the import directory without traversal validation, then passes the result to File.Exists. A valid session is required, and differing responses disclose whether chosen files exist without reading or changing their contents.
