CVE-2024-50113

System crash via invalid FireWire port index

Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in Linux 6.11 before 6.11.6 allows physically proximate attackers to crash the system via a FireWire node. During topology-cache updates, drivers/firewire/core-topology.c assigns an invalid parent-port index and derives an invalid address from it. A connected extra node with at least three ports is required, and the resulting general protection fault interrupts the system.
