Kernel-memory disclosure via LAM transient execution

Transient-execution weakness in affected Linux kernels allows local users to disclose kernel memory through enabled LAM. The x86 ADDRESS_MASKING Kconfig option permits LAM while CPU mitigations are enabled and LASS is absent, exposing unmasked Spectre gadgets through a TLB covert channel. Exploitation requires an unprivileged local process, LAM-capable hardware, and an LAM-enabled kernel without LASS; the CNA reported that no marketed processor supported LAM at disclosure.
