CVE-2024-50090

Local kernel compromise via repeated terminator appends

Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel 6.8 through 6.11.3 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through Intel Xe OA ioctls. The OA path reuses a batch buffer, and xe_bb_create_job() appends MI_BATCH_BUFFER_END on every configuration call until the buffer overflows. Access to an Intel Xe DRM render node and an execution queue is required; repeated calls can corrupt GPU mappings, expose memory, or panic the kernel.
