CVE-2024-50083Network attack vector

Service interruption via cross-DSS PMTU probe construction

Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Denial of service in the Linux kernel MPTCP transmit path allows remote attackers to trigger DSS corruption via large PMTU probes. The tcp_mtu_probe path fails to preserve MPTCP-level invariants when it builds a large probe spanning multiple DSS mappings. An MPTCP connection and a sufficiently large path MTU are required; the resulting corruption interrupts service without reported disclosure or data modification.
