CVE-2024-50068

Local memory exhaustion via leaked DAMON test regions

Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

A memory leak in Linux 6.7 and affected later commits allows local users to deplete memory when DAMON KUnit tests execute. The damon_sysfs_test_add_targets function allocates sysfs_target regions through damon_sysfs_regions_alloc but returns without releasing that array. Reachability requires a kernel built with DAMON sysfs KUnit tests and execution of that test path; repeated runs accumulate 96-byte region objects and reduce availability.
