Service interruption via uninitialized ext4 replay lock
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Improper initialization in Linux ext4 6.6 allows local users to interrupt service by mounting a fast-commit-enabled filesystem. During fast-commit replay, ext4_check_bdev_write_error() locks sbi->s_bdev_wb_lock before __ext4_fill_super() initializes that spinlock. Local low-privileged access and fast commit are required; Siemens also identifies affected MFP firmware starting at 3.1.6.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
