Stale memory access via post-RCU request dereference
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel mac802154 subsystem allows local users to access stale or freed memory during an IEEE 802.15.4 scan. mac802154_scan_worker reads scan_req->type after leaving its RCU read-side critical section, so the scan request can change or be freed before the read. Reachability requires low-privileged local access and an active mac802154 scan; consequences are bounded to unpredictable kernel memory access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
