Local bpftool disruption via null qsort input
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Undefined behavior in bpftool's netfilter display path in Linux allows local users to disrupt the utility via an empty listing. The net.c display routine calls qsort with nf_link_info set to NULL and a zero element count instead of returning before sorting. The caller needs local access to run bpftool; the consequence is confined to bpftool availability, with no reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
