Remote service interruption via unbounded async COPY
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Linux NFSD allows remote attackers to interrupt service through concurrent asynchronous NFSv4 COPY requests. NFSD starts each asynchronous COPY without a concurrency bound, and each operation can process an unlimited sequence of 4 MB chunks. The NFS server and NFSv4 COPY support must be active; sustained requests can consume background-copy capacity and deny service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
