Local service interruption via unchecked display pointers
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereferences in the Linux kernel 4.15 through 6.11.2 allow local users to interrupt systems through AMD display paths. Across seven drm/amd/display files, code dereferences stream_enc, dc->bw_vbios, and other pointers after earlier control flow establishes that they can be NULL. A local low-privileged user must reach an affected AMD display path; the documented consequence is availability loss, not data access or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
