System crash via unchecked display clock manager
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel allows local users to crash the system through AMD display initialization. The dcn32_init_hw function calls dc->clk_mgr functions without first confirming that the clock-manager pointer is non-null, causing a kernel fault when initialization leaves it unset. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an affected AMD DCN 3.2 display path; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.
