CVE-2024-49913

Service interruption via null pointer dereference

Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Null pointer dereference in the AMD display core in Linux 4.15 and later allows attackers to interrupt service via unspecified vectors. In commit_planes_for_stream, the code dereferences top_pipe_to_program->stream_res even when top_pipe_to_program is null. The affected path requires AMD display hardware and a plane-commit state that leaves this pointer unset; the resulting kernel fault can interrupt display or system operation.
