CVE-2024-49910

Local system crash via NULL gamma callback

Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel 4.15 through 6.11.2 allows local users to crash the system through AMD display handling. The dcn401_set_output_transfer_func function calls a NULL set_output_gamma function pointer while configuring an output transfer function. Reachability requires low-privilege local access and the affected AMD display path; the demonstrated consequence is a kernel crash with no reported data exposure or modification.
