Local system crash via cursor framebuffer dereference
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 4.15 through 6.11.2 allows local users to crash the system by triggering an AMD GPU cursor update. The amdgpu_dm_update_cursor function uses a potentially NULL AMD framebuffer pointer without checking it at the point of use. A low-privilege local session on a system using the AMD display cursor path is required, and successful triggering interrupts availability without reading or changing data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
