System crash via premature plane-state dereference
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the AMD display driver in Linux allows local users to crash the system through display state handling. The check in dcn20_hwseq.c dereferences pipe_ctx->plane_state before testing whether plane_state is NULL. A local low-privilege user must reach the AMD display code path; exploitation provides no data access or modification but can crash the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
