Local kernel compromise via freed nport dereference
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel's libefc driver allows local users to compromise the kernel during SCSI port deletion. efc_nport_vport_del calls kref_put, which can free nport through _efc_nport_free, and then dereferences the freed nport pointer on the next line. The affected elx/libefc SCSI code must be present and exercised; no public source documents a demonstrated exploit or exact post-trigger consequence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
