Authentication bypass in GitHub Enterprise Server releases allows remote attackers to gain site administrator access via forged SAML responses. The encrypted-assertion SAML handler accepts a forged response without correctly validating its signature, then provisions or opens an account with site administrator privileges. Exposure requires SAML SSO with optional encrypted assertions enabled; successful exploitation grants unrestricted instance access without prior authentication.
