HSM service interruption via out-of-bounds write
Published Mar 11, 2025 · Updated Sep 1, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in IBM Common Cryptographic Architecture 7.0.0 through 7.5.51 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt the HSM. A specially crafted sequence of otherwise valid requests drives an undisclosed CCA code path to write outside its intended bounds. Network access with valid CCA credentials is required; IBM reports denial of service to the 4769 HSM but does not state whether it hangs, crashes, or reboots.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.5.51
