CVE-2024-49770Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Hidden-file disclosure via encoded path separator

Published Nov 1, 2024 · Updated Nov 1, 2024

Path traversal in Oak before 17.1.3 allows remote attackers to read hidden files within an application's configured served root. Context.send uses decodeComponent, leaving %2F encoded while isHidden checks only the first subpath; subsequent path resolution can reach nested dotfiles. The application must expose Context.send with hidden transfers disabled and store a requested secret under the configured root; the demonstrated consequence is read-only disclosure.
