Published Jan 21, 2025 · Updated Mar 18, 2025

Unsafe deserialization in Android 12, 12L, 13, 14, and 15 allows local users to escalate privileges via a crafted parcel. AccountManagerService can skip checkKeyIntentParceledCorrectly when KEY_INTENT initially deserializes as null, even though its value changes after reparceling. Exploitation requires local access and user interaction, and successful abuse grants elevated privileges through the Android Framework.
