Notification disclosure via hidden approved listener service
Published Jan 21, 2025 · Updated Mar 25, 2025
Information disclosure in Android 12, 12L, 13, 14, and 15 allows local users to read notification data through a hidden listener service. ServiceListing.reload applies current eligibility filters to previously approved services and omits an enabled component that no longer satisfies them. A malicious app must first obtain notification-listener approval; it can then remain absent from Settings while retaining access to notification contents.
