Administrator-session script execution via unsanitized URL parameters
Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026
Reflected XSS in Van Abel LaTeX2HTML 2.5.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. The admin interface inserts the status and message URL parameters into its response without sanitizing, validating, or escaping their values. An administrator must open a crafted URL; the injected script then runs in the site's origin with the victim's WordPress session context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
