Factory reset via unauthenticated Modbus register write
Published Dec 1, 2025 · Updated Dec 1, 2025
Missing authentication in Socomec DIRIS Digiware M-70 1.6.9 allows remote attackers to factory-reset the gateway via Modbus TCP. The service accepts Write Single Register function code 6 without authentication and treats value 229 at register 57856 as a factory-reset command. Network reachability is sufficient; the reset interrupts operation and restores documented default WEBVIEW-M passwords, enabling access to web accounts.
