Local SYSTEM command execution via writable shared memory
Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Command injection in WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL Client before 12.10.4 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands as SYSTEM. The wgsslvpnsrc.exe service grants authenticated users write access to a global shared-memory command field and passes its contents directly to CreateProcessW. Any local account can signal the associated event and make the Local System service start an attacker-chosen executable with full host privileges.
