Code execution via unsigned APK installation

Published Dec 3, 2024 · Updated Dec 3, 2024

Improper signature verification in Samsung SmartSwitch on Android 13 and 14 allows attackers to install a malicious application. Smart Switch Agent accepts a downloaded APK from a designated content provider and installs it without checking that Samsung signed it. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled file to reach the device and the user to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, leading to code execution as the current user.
