CVE-2024-49366Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file write via unchecked configuration name

Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2024

Path traversal in Nginx UI 2.0.0-beta.35 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary server files. The site and stream handlers pass attacker-controlled JSON name values containing ../ to GetConfPath, then write or copy controlled content outside configured directories. A valid session is shown in upstream requests; file replacement can install SSH keys or overwrite data writable by the service.
