CVE-2024-49200

Arbitrary code execution via NVRAM-derived write pointer

Published Apr 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Memory corruption in InsydeH2O kernels 5.2 through 5.7 allows physically proximate attackers to execute arbitrary code. AcpiS3SaveDxe and ChipsetSvcDxe use a pointer taken from an NVRAM variable as a write destination, enabling arbitrary memory writes. Exploitation requires physical access and high privileges but can compromise firmware confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
