CVE-2024-49147Network attack vector

Webserver privilege escalation via unsafe deserialization

Published Dec 12, 2024 · Updated Jun 9, 2026

Deserialization of untrusted data in Microsoft Update Catalog allows remote attackers to elevate privileges on the website's webserver. The service deserializes attacker-controlled data without establishing trust, but Microsoft has not published the affected endpoint, data format, or deserialization operation. The hosted service is remotely reachable without authentication, and successful exploitation grants privileges on Microsoft's webserver.
