CVE-2024-49060

Administrator credential disclosure via exposed provisioning data

Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Jul 8, 2025

Hard-coded credentials in Microsoft Azure Stack HCI OS before 10.0.25398.2411 allow local users to obtain administrator credentials. VM creation data exposes the local administrator credentials to non-administrative users on both the guest VM and its Azure Stack HCI hosts. Low-privilege local access to either location is required, and the disclosed credentials enable privilege escalation beyond the account's assigned rights.
