Code execution via freed PPTX parser object
Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Jul 8, 2025
Use-after-free in Microsoft Office Graphics allows remote attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted PowerPoint file. The PPTX parser performs operations on an object without first verifying that the object still exists, leaving a freed object available for reuse. Exploitation requires the target to visit malicious content or open the file, and successful code runs in the current Office process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
