Memory corruption via unchecked HCI report lengths
Published Nov 20, 2024 · Updated Nov 25, 2024
Buffer overflow in the Cordio BLE stack in Arm Mbed OS 6.16.0 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via crafted HCI reports. The hciEvtProcessLeExtAdvReport function walks report-length fields without confirming that each report remains inside the supplied input buffer, then copies data using a length field that an earlier copy can overwrite. Reachability requires processing attacker-controlled extended BLE advertising reports; the corrupted length drives an out-of-bounds memcpy into a newly allocated buffer.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
