CVE-2024-48971

Clinician access via plaintext hard-coded passwords

Published Nov 14, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Use of hard-coded credentials in Baxter Life2000 06.08.00.00 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to gain clinician privileges. The ventilator stores both the Clinician Password and Serial Number Clinician Password as plaintext constants that can be recovered from the device. Physical access to an unattended unit is required; the recovered credentials grant clinician-level access to settings and device data.
