CVE-2024-48927Network attack vector

Backoffice script execution via direct SVG preview

Published Oct 22, 2024 · Updated Oct 22, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Umbraco CMS allows remote authenticated users to execute script by opening an uploaded SVG in full-screen Backoffice preview. The preview anchor navigates the browser directly to the SVG source instead of loading it as an image, allowing embedded SVG script to run in the Backoffice origin. The flaw affects 8.0.0 through 8.18.14, 10.0.0 through 10.8.6, and 13.0.0 through 13.5.1; a Backoffice account, media access, and preview interaction are required.
