CVE-2024-48910Public exploitNetwork attack vector

XSS via polluted hasOwnProperty clone check

Published Oct 31, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Prototype pollution in Cure53 DOMPurify before 2.4.2 allows remote attackers to bypass HTML sanitization and execute script. The clone helper accepts any truthy hasOwnProperty result instead of requiring true, so a polluted method causes inherited configuration properties to be copied. Exploitation requires prior pollution of Object.prototype; an inherited ALLOWED_ATTR value can then preserve an event handler in sanitized markup.
