Arbitrary command execution via lycheeVersion interpolation
Published Aug 28, 2025 · Updated Aug 28, 2025
Code injection in Lycheeverse Lychee Action before 2.0.2 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the lycheeVersion input. The lychee-setup Bash step interpolates inputs.lycheeVersion directly into shell syntax, so command substitutions execute before the download URL is built. Exploitation requires control of that action input and runs commands with the workflow job's permissions, allowing repository data or secrets available to the job to be read or modified.
